BIOGRAPHY OR OUR FOUNDER

Mr. Kasambwe Mpulamasaka’s love for entertaining others began during his primary school years. One memorable incident was when his teachers went on strike demanding for higher wages. Already known to his classmates as a class clown, Kasambwe seized the opportunity to impersonate his teachers and entertain his classmates, discovering his natural talent for making people laugh. In 2001, Kasambwe had the chance to move to the United States, where his comedic talent evolved into stand-up comedy.

He performed at an open mic night at Comedy Works in Denver, Colorado, and later moved to Texas to focus on his comedy career. After years of performing at open mics in various comedy clubs and less-than-kind venues, Kasambwe’s hard work paid off. He began performing at prominent venues such as Hyenas Comedy Clubs across Texas, Improv Comedy Clubs, the Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino in New Mexico, and the African Film Festival in Los Angeles. He has shared the stage with notable comedians like Trevor Noah, Eddie Griffin, Eric Omondi, and Basket Mouth. In 2015, Kasambwe returned to Zambia to help his parents with their veterinary pharmaceutical business. Although he took a break from comedy to train as a paraveterinary, his passion for making people laugh never waned.

To stay connected with the comedy scene in Zambia, he attended local comedy events. It was at one of these events that a comedian friend encouraged him to return to stand-up comedy. This advice marked the beginning of Kasambwe’s renewed commitment to comedy, as well as his growing dedication to mentoring aspiring stand-up comedians. His journey is a testament to his enduring passion and impact on the comedy scene. Today, the show Kasambwe appeared in back in 2006, both in California and Irving, Texas, continues to air on the Africa Channel on Demand, showcasing African immigrant comedians in the diaspora.
